June, #pridemonth , is about celebrating our freedom of expression and the inherent beauty in our natural ways of being that have been unfairly stigmatized for so long. But for the cannabis community it is also a sorely needed opportunity to recognize and honor the gay community's crucial role in pioneering medical marijuana programs in response to the AIDS crisis, to which we all owe a deep debt of gratitude.⁣⁣⁣

It has been five years since we first planted on the East Fork Ranch and it has us reminiscing on how far we’ve come in that time. A lot has changed, while more has remained the same. We remain committed to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice. On February 3, 2020, East Fork Cultivars co-hosted an informational event celebrating the expansion of Sun+Earth Certified into Oregon.

Sun+Earth Certified is a truly rigorous process that means something. A mix between elements of both B-Corp Certification and USDA Organic, Sun+Earth certifies cannabis that is grown under the sun, in the soil, without chemicals, by fairly-paid farmers. That last part is a big one. Ethics in cannabis, like in all things, is difficult to verify. We believe Sun+Earth verifies it.

The goal of every member of the EFC crew is to grow superior CBD-rich cannabis in a way that is sustainable to not only the 34-acres that are part of the farm, but also the larger environment and community.

Although just about everyone at East Fork takes part in the myriad of daily tasks, Skip Newcomb is the one with the dirtiest hands and greenest thumbs. His knowledge of all facets of plant growing, from cloning to feeding to planting to harvesting to genetics and seed production, is astronomical.

East Fork Cultivars will be teaming up with Vibrant Hemp Cultures (VHC) to help people all over grow our award-winning genetics on their own land. We chose them because of what they do: They use well-thought out techniques to provide healthy, vibrant starts to farmers throughout the US.

East Fork Cultivars helped to write the Oregon SAFE Banking Act legislation and now helped advance the bills and policy with key members in the house and senate based on the committees they sit on. Many hundreds of hours of work and many awkward conversations later we're feeling cautiously optimistic about the SAFE Banking Act and we made headway on the other items outlined in our priority list.

Nathan & Aaron began searching for cultivars that would provide the pain relief & euphoria that their brother searched for in cannabis without leaving him debilitatingly high: elusive type 2 & 3 cultivars that were dominant in CBD (cannabidiol).
