Erasing Harmful Myths of Cannabis Use with Professional Athletes
Athletes operate at the bleeding intersection of human performance, popular culture, cannabis policy and the law – with collisions often taking place explosively in the public eye.
Use of cannabis by professional athletes is common and widespread, despite the continued legal and career risks. (Amateur athletes and weekend warriors, too!)
Why do so many athletes choose cannabis? And how are athletes a bellwether for the general population?
Honoring the Indigenous Heritage of the Farm
Delving into the Indigenous history of East Fork’s farmland was a deep dive into various historical accounts and sources – some of which, as we discovered, have been misinterpreted or came from informants with a limited understanding to begin with.
Celebrate Pride Today and Every Day
We wouldn’t have modern day cannabis legalization if it weren’t for the sustained work of LGBTQIA+ activists. We want to honor and thank the trailblazers before us, who fought tooth and nail for medical cannabis rights. These folks sacrificed so much for their community and for us all.
Why We Need the Oregon Cannabis Equity Act of 2021
As Oregon continues to see growth in the recreational cannabis market, the Oregon Cannabis Equity Act provides an opportunity for Oregon to pass the most comprehensive, holistic approach to cannabis equity in the United States.
This Act focuses on widespread reinvestment in the communities that have been hurt most by racial profiling and the War on Drugs – Black, Indigenous and Latina/o/x communities.
Our 2020 Election Endorsements
This election cycle we met with and interviewed State Representatives and Senators from every corner of Oregon, candidates vying for a seat on the Deschutes County Commission, Statewide Offices like Secretary of State and Treasurer, members of Portland City Council, including those running to be the Mayor of Portland, as well as statewide ballot measures. Here are our 2020 Election Endorsements.
Vote YES on Oregon Ballot Measures 109 and 110
As Oregon voters consider our ballots this fall, the East Fork team urges you to vote “Yes” on ballot measures 109 and 110. These two progressive reforms, in tandem, will fund comprehensive addiction treatment services and decriminalize personal possession of small amounts of drugs (Measure 110), while also creating a framework for legal psilocybin-assisted therapy to aid in healing from depression, trauma, addiction, and other mental health issues (Measure 109).
Cannabis justice is racial justice – raising funds for the Last Prisoner Project
This summer, you can team up with East Fork Cultivars to contribute a bit more by purchasing one of our new PAX Era pods, created in collaboration with Buddies. $1 from every PAX pod purchased will be donated to Last Prisoner Project, which will total a donation of over $4,000 if every unit is sold.
Happy Pride from East Fork Cultivars
June, #pridemonth , is about celebrating our freedom of expression and the inherent beauty in our natural ways of being that have been unfairly stigmatized for so long. But for the cannabis community it is also a sorely needed opportunity to recognize and honor the gay community's crucial role in pioneering medical marijuana programs in response to the AIDS crisis, to which we all owe a deep debt of gratitude.
East Fork visits Washington D.C. to Lobby Congress with the Oregon Cannabis Association
East Fork Cultivars helped to write the Oregon SAFE Banking Act legislation and now helped advance the bills and policy with key members in the house and senate based on the committees they sit on. Many hundreds of hours of work and many awkward conversations later we're feeling cautiously optimistic about the SAFE Banking Act and we made headway on the other items outlined in our priority list.

Half-step Forward for Athletes: WADA Allows CBD Starting in 2018
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) recently released its 2018 "List of Prohibited Substances and Methods" with a new exception for the use of CBD. WADA governs which substances are approved and banned for the Olympics and sports organizations worldwide, so this is progress for athletes.
