Meet Your Hemp: A Collaboration between East Fork and Gaia Herbs

At East Fork, we’ve often been at our best when we partner with, well, the best. When looking for new partners, we look for organizations with similar philosophies around culture, continual improvement, social and environmental responsibility, and most importantly, quality. This is not an easy task, especially in the quickly changing world of craft cannabis where surviving means dealing with a dizzyingly dynamic industry, severe tax structures, regulatory uncertainty, difficulty with banks, and constant rule changes.

In this vein, we were lucky when we embarked on a partnership with the venerable Gaia Herbs.

Gaia is the largest employer in North Carolina's Transylvania County, and takes this responsibility seriously. They are an official Living Wage Employer, which is certified by the Living Wage Coalition of Transylvania County, part of Just Economics, the U.S.'s largest advocacy group for the fair-wage movement. The philosophy of treating employees fairly is one that East Fork definitively stands behind. At East Fork, providing a living wage, particularly in a rural, generationally impoverished community, is one of our core values.

Although just about all craft hemp producers and product makers are new to the industry, Gaia has been in the herb space since the 1980s, giving them decades of important experience in farming, sourcing, and product formulation. At their farm in Brevard, NC, Gaia grows over five million individual plants each year, featuring 45 species of herbs including Hawthorn, Ginkgo, Echinacea, Lemon Balm, and California Poppy.

In 2019, to launch its new line, Gaia chose East Fork as its hemp supplier.

The Gaia Herbs Hemp Liquid Phyto-Caps® come with either 15 or 25mg of cannabinoids per serving. These broad spectrum capsules are made with quality flower and quality methods to produce a product that is second-to-none.

Gaia also has a great program called Meet Your Herbs, providing supply chain transparency and batch-level lab results for all products they create.

We’re beyond excited for our new partnership with Gaia, and encourage you to check out their products at a store near you.
