Finding Cannabis-Friendly Medical Professionals
When it comes to educating yourself about using cannabis therapeutically, you can learn a lot of great information through programs such as CBD Certified. However, these kinds of programs do not constitute medical advice, there may be times when you want guidance that is specific to your personal health situation.
Finding healthcare providers who are both knowledgeable and supportive of cannabinoid therapeutics can be challenging. Unfortunately, many medical professionals are unwilling or feel unable to speak with patients about cannabis, whether due to a lack of knowledge, an outdated bias, institutional or federal funding restrictions, or other factors.
However, cannabis-informed and supportive professionals do exist, and are increasing in number. A good starting point in your search might be the member directories of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians, the American Academy of Cannabinoid Medicine, the Cannabis Nurses Network, and/or the International Society of Cannabis Pharmacists.**
If you live in a remote area with a lack of nearby providers, you may want to work with a provider who can provide an online or phone consultation, for example the American Cannabinoid Clinics, Merkaba Natural Health, Integrated Holistic Care, or Converse with the Nurse.** Some providers offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation for new patients.
