Founded in 2015, East Fork strives to develop and preserve sustainable, sun-grown farming methods in order to produce high-quality, genetically diverse, CBD-rich cultivars while maintaining a resolute commitment to environmental responsibility, science-based education, and social justice.  

East Fork also operates Hemp Bar, its flagship retail space for quality and accessible low-THC (hemp) goods and CBD mocktails. East Fork is seeking a talented, passionate, and self-directed Retail Manager to join our team. This position is located in Portland, Oregon.

Position Summary

The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing retail operations at East Fork, including Hemp Bar, e-commerce, and order fulfillment. The Retail Manager will work closely with the Chief Operations Officer to develop events, programming, and the beverage program at Hemp Bar and oversee East Fork's growing e-commerce arm. This role is integral to the success of East Fork Cultivars’ direct-to-consumer business, and is a part of the Portland-based Operations Team.

Important note: This is an in-person role based at East Fork's Southeast Portland facility.

Outcomes (in order of priority):

  1. Oversee day-to-day retail operations of Hemp Bar and e-commerce websites

  2. Lead e-commerce administration: manage product pages, pack and ship orders (including wholesale)

  3. Recruit, interview, develop, hire, train, and schedule retail staff with assistance from Chief Operations Officer

  4. Manage vendors and inventory of sellable products and supplies

  5. Create a warm, welcoming space for customers

  6. Handle customer service inquiries in person, over the phone, and via email

  7. Ensure staff is following all food control and safety regulations

  8. Monitor adherence to cash management procedures

  9. Track and grow retail revenue and margin

  10. Work with Operations and Identity teams to develop and implement events program at Hemp Bar

  11. Work with vendors and Identity Team to develop promotions for retail channels

  12. Enhance merchandising and organization of retail displays

  13. Manage up-to-date menus (printed and digital)

  14. Participate in East Fork's culture of continual improvement and community engagement

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Proven experience in a managerial role

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills

  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sales goals

  • Ability to motivate and lead people, and hold employees accountable

  • Knowledge of relevant software including (but not limited to) Square POS, WordPress, e-commerce platforms, Canva, and Google Workspace

  • Strong working knowledge of retail operating procedures

  • E-commerce inventory management and order fulfillment experience a plus

Legal Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Must be legally able to work in the U.S.

  • Must possess or obtain a Food Handlers Card

  • Must possess or be able to obtain an OLCC Marijuana Worker Permit

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting wage range: $21.50-23.25/hour

  • Paid vacation: Accrue 0.04 hours of PTO for each hour worked. This is about two weeks of PTO per year based on a full-time schedule.

Work schedule and relationships

Schedule

The Retail Manager is an in-person position and should average close to 40 hours per week, working with the Chief Operations Officer to set a schedule in collaboration with the Hemp Bar and Portland teams. This position requires weekend and evening availability as well as occasional management of issues outside of scheduled hours.

Hemp Bar’s current hours of operation are Friday through Sunday 12pm - 6pm, and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 2-6pm. Hemp Bar is currently closed on Wednesday. 

Travel

This position may require a minimal amount of travel.
